"This is the second release with so called hydrophonien, that means sounding water. Far away from being industrial music "Seuchengebiete 2" deals with a dark, rather unsual aspect of flowing water: the wastepipe and the characteristic of water running through wastepipes. In this sense it is much more than an advanced kind of musique concrete. The basic sounds have been recorded in the sink of the studio on three separate tracks of the multi-track tape machine. Two condensator mics and one contact mic have been used. Now each of the three tracks has been treated and processed excessively until the sonic material has been collected completely to finish the piece. Then the final mix. All the hydrophonien depend on the same test arrangement as described above. They are a running series started in 1983. Nothing more can be said about "Seuchengebiete 2". If it contains a message it is not intended. If one demands a message he should pick out one of the millions others. "Seuchengebiete 2" will be no more than itself." Asmus Tietchens |
