The new Theatrum Chemicum's CD is entirely inspired by Time and its running away; it contains pieces written by the two authors and other pieces written exclusively by Cosimi or by Di Cioccio. It was recorded direct, non overdubs, whit a long pre production work, inclunding an in-deep MIDI programming. Theatrum Chemicum used oboe, english horn (with and without reed - like a sound tube producing natural harmonics), an huge Doepfer Modular Analog Synthesizer System, a vocoder, an EMS AKS Synthesizer, crystal flutes, a Big Briar Theremin 91c, a lot of MIDI sequencers and Kurzweil synthesizers. All pieces were later edited digitally with Pro Tools 4.0 and assembled in the final order.
De Tribus ImpostoribusThe Suite's name is taken from an ancient book, whose reading was forbidden for centuries by the Catholic Church; by the way the book, based on Moses, Mahomet, Christ, had a big influence on the west illuministic philosopy.
The Planets
Are taken from a Suite composed by Paolo Di Cioccio, an hommage to G. Holstz.
Chronofobia
Is the other Suite on the CD - it takes inspiration from the classic german electronic music, with never ending sequencers and pulsating synthesizers.
Dergolem
The clay monster created by rabbi Loew in Praha represent the Imperfect remainding at the Perfection, the Non Completed One. The piece has a musical structure ironly modular.
Sphinx without Secrets
Is the more complex piece to perform: the theremin and the oboe are used in a near - perfect unison for a classical based melody; the unquantized nature of the theremin makes this kind of musical phrases very difficult to tune.
