This is the first CD release by this unique and estimating band from Tokio.
Tomo Kuwabara started up the unit Vasilisk with Yukio Nagoshi (percussions/guitars) and Chiaki (percussions).
They made a first album called 'Whirling Dervishes' in 1987, released through Eskimo, which was the label established by Yun 'Grim' Konagaya. In this album they played several and unusual instruments: African skin-drum, African flute, Tibetan percussions, Ancestor's voices.
In 1988 they made a second album called 'Mkwaju' with the same line-up and still released by Eskimo. Just after the release of this album, Tomo and Yukio joined Rose Mcdowall's new project Candy Cain, they toured through Japan almost the whole year 1988. Around that time Musica Maxima Magnetica invited them to release their next album which was recorded between London and Naples (Italy) and titled 'Acqua' (1989)
'Liberation and Ecstasy' contains remixed tracks of their first 3 albums: from 'Acqua' and from the first two vinyl LP which were very rare.
It is a perfect anthology of this unique Japanese band before their new course devoted to hyper oriental psychedelic trance music.
